Vice City
CONFIRMED
Leonida's neon-lit metropolis and the largest playable city in the series, modeled on modern-day Miami. Its districts run from the oceanfront hotel strip of Vice Beach to the dense streets of Little Cuba, each with its own character. Officially revealed through both trailers and Rockstar's screenshot sets.

A rural industrial town in Leonida's heartland, where the Allied Crystal sugar refinery keeps the local economy running. Rockstar's official description pairs old-school American industry with a biker gang that handles nearly everything else. Individual landmarks inside the region are still being mapped.

Vast sawgrass wetlands covering Leonida's southern interior — the game's answer to the Everglades. Airboat routes cut between mangroves where gators are only the most famous of the things waiting below the surface. Community analysis of leaked footage estimates the region's share of the map, though exact boundaries remain unofficial.

Real Florida weather on the GTA 6 map
The GTA 6 map can show the latest real weather in South Florida: home of Miami and the Florida Keys, which Game Informer links to Vice City and the Leonida Keys. Recent observations from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) at Miami International Airport and Key West International Airport drive a subtle effect across the whole map: sun rays on clear days, stars at night, clouds drifting with the real wind, fog, rain, lightning during thunderstorms, and streaks when it’s windy.
Miami’s weather covers the north of the map and Key West’s covers the south, blended smoothly in between. It’s an estimate, just for fun, and not GTA 6’s in-game weather. Tap a weather chip for the observation time, temperature, wind, and a link to the original NWS record.
In the Real-world view you can replay the paths of Andrew (1992) and Irma (2017) from the National Hurricane Center’s official HURDAT2 records, and see any active Atlantic storm as NHC reports it. The Regions tab adds real NOAA climate normals for Vice City (Miami) and the Leonida Keys (Florida Keys).
In-game weather — confirmed so far
Only details confirmed in Game Informer’s exclusive weather article are listed.
Confirmed
Dynamic cloudscapes rolling across Leonida
Localized storms you can spot from a distance
Puddles and wet surfaces that linger after rain
Rainbows after a fresh shower
Tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes
Not confirmed yet
How often hurricanes hit and how they affect gameplay
Is the weather on the GTA 6 map the actual in-game weather?
No. The effect uses real observations from Miami and Key West, published by the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), and blends them across the map as an estimate for fun. It does not reflect GTA 6’s in-game weather.
Why does the map use Miami and Key West weather?
They are the two regions that Game Informer links to real places. It describes Vice City as a “Miami-inspired playground” and the Leonida Keys as “a clear parody of the Florida Keys,” so the map uses the NWS stations at Miami International Airport and Key West International Airport.
What weather will GTA 6 have?
According to Game Informer’s report of September 29, 2026, GTA 6 features dynamic cloudscapes rolling across Leonida (confirmed by Rockstar), localized storms you can watch from a dry, sunny spot, puddles and wet surfaces that linger after rain, and, in the right light, rainbows after a fresh shower.
Will GTA 6 have hurricanes?
Yes. The same Game Informer report confirms that Leonida, like Florida, gets tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes. How often they hit, how they affect gameplay, and whether buildings can be destroyed have not been confirmed.
When is hurricane season in real Florida?
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the Atlantic hurricane season runs from Jun 1 to Nov 30, peaking around Sep 10. The map also shows whether the season is in progress right now.
Which real hurricanes can I replay on the map?
Andrew (1992) and Irma (2017). Open the Real-world view and press Replay in the hurricane legend: the storm moves along its official NHC HURDAT2 track in the order it was observed, colored by Saffir-Simpson category, with landfall points marked.
Does the map show current hurricanes and tropical storms?
Yes. The map checks the National Hurricane Center’s current-storms feed for active Atlantic storms. When one is active, a badge appears and the Real-world view marks its position with a link to the official NHC advisory. Storms in other ocean basins are not shown.
How current is the weather?
The map loads new observations every 2 minutes. Tap a weather chip to see the time NWS recorded the observation, so you know exactly how recent it is.
Can I turn the weather effect off?
Yes. Use the “Real weather” toggle on the map. Your choice is remembered on this device. If your device is set to reduce motion, the effect is shown as a still image.
Quick answers about the map, where its data comes from, and the world of Leonida.
How large is the GTA 6 map compared to GTA 5?
Rockstar hasn't published official figures. Community analysis of the trailers and leaked footage estimates roughly 125 km² of land — close to twice the size of GTA 5's map — spread across six regions with no loading screens.
How many distinct regions does the map have?
Six: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn, and Ambrosia. All six were officially revealed through Rockstar's screenshot sets, and each region card above carries a badge showing how reliable its finer details are.
What is the Yanis build?
Yanis is the name of this map's dataset. Each numbered build (V11, V12, V13...) is a snapshot of marker positions and region boundaries at a point in time, updated whenever new evidence appears. The changelog below lists exactly what changed in every build.
Are interiors included in the map data?
Not yet — the map currently tracks exterior locations only. Leaked material points to hundreds of enterable interiors in the final game, from nightclubs to pawn shops, and verified ones will be added once official information or the game itself confirms them.
How often is the map updated?
Whenever there's something worth adding — a new trailer, official screenshots, or community research that holds up to verification. Every change ships as a new Yanis build and is recorded in the changelog, so you can always see what's new since your last visit.
Every map update, logged by build — new markers, boundary revisions, and data corrections.
